We’ll meet in the morning, either in Llanberis, North Wales or the Langdale Valley in the Lake District. Over a coffee, we’ll have a brief chat about your experience and current knowledge, and look at the extra kit that’s essential for a safe and efficient multi-pitch day.

Then we’ll head out to one of the many excellent multi-pitch crags in the area. Once on the rock, we’ll focus on smooth transitions between belays, avoiding rope twists, and the systems needed to swap leads effectively so everything runs safely and efficiently.

Throughout the day, you’ll be mock leading: climbing the route while protected by a rope from above. This allows you to build your skills and confidence in a realistic setting, with the support and safety of an experienced guide.

At the top of the crag, we’ll cover essential multi-pitch abseiling techniques, including how to tie two ropes together for longer abseils, how to set up anchors, and common pitfalls to avoid when descending.

As with all our courses, this day is completely bespoke. If you already have some experience with multi-pitch climbing, we can take things further—looking at more complex systems, problem solving, or even stepping towards full independence on longer mountain routes.

If you have experience leading single pitch trad routes and want to experience longer more adventurous routes this is for you.

This course runs either in North Wales or the Lake District.

We can run our multi pitch course throughout the year.

Both days will typically last from 8 in the morning until 4/5 in the afternoon.

For 1:1 Guiding we charge £450, for two days. For 1:2 Guiding we charge £500, for two days. This course works better on a 1:2 ratio, so try and bring a climbing partner along!
