ABOUT US
We are a mountain guiding company based in Kendal, in the Lake District. Our instructors are all members of either the British Association of Mountain Guides (BMG) or the Association of Mountaineering Instructors (AMI). We work only with guides who are experienced, friendly, and passionate about the outdoors, and who take pride in helping others develop their skills and confidence in the mountains.
OUR CLIMATE ETHOS
We love the Lake District and the outdoors, and we’re committed to protecting these environments in every way we can and minimising our environmental impact. Find out more about how we’re working to protect these incredible landscapes and doing our part to fight against climate change.
OUR GUIDES
This is our core guiding team, though we also work alongside a number of trusted freelance instructors and guides.
James Boothroyd
James is a member of the British Association of Mountain Guides and is currently working towards full IFMGA certification, the highest qualification for guiding in the world. He’s a trainee guide qualified to work as a UK Rock Guide and is fully insured to work throughout the UK.
James enjoys all forms of climbing, from sport climbing to big alpine routes. He lived in Chamonix for five years, spending his time climbing and skiing as much as possible. In the Alps, he’s ticked off classic test pieces like the North Face of the Grandes Jorasses and Les Droites. He’s also skied the Haute Route and other iconic ski tours across the Alps.
James is now based in the Lakes and spends his time climbing as much as possible. He loves pushing his own limits but gets just as much enjoyment from introducing people to the mountains and sharing the joy of the outdoors.
Josh Fawcett
Josh is a trainee British Mountain Guide, currently working towards full IFMGA certification. With extensive climbing and skiing experience across the globe, he brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to every trip. His adventures have taken him from the big walls of Yosemite to challenging mixed routes in the Alps, and he’s climbed 100’s of classic Scottish winter routes.
Passionate about the outdoors, Josh thrives on sharing stunning mountain environments with his clients. In addition to his guiding qualifications, he holds an IRATA Level 3 certification, giving him advanced knowledge in rope work and safety systems.
